Bromsgrove centre finds home for dog with rare allergy to grass

A DOG with an unusual allergy - to grass - has found herself a new happy home, thanks to Bromsgrove's Blue Cross.

Bliss, the four-year-old lurcher, was brought into the centre in January after being rescued from an animal hoarder's house in Ireland.

She was suffering with sore inflamed skin on her nose and had hardly any skin on her paws because she had been allowed to stand on grass at that home.

Having had the experience of having another dog with the same allergy, the staff at the Blue Cross feared they may have to move her to another centre. But, the staff said, due to her adorable face and loving nature, there was plenty of interest shown in Bliss and she was not homeless for long.

After she received treatment, Sue Rothwell, from Kidderminster, came to take Bliss and she now has a happy, loving home. She has even made friends with her neighbour’s corgie-cross Beth, who was also rehomed by the Bromsgrove Blue Cross ten years ago.

Sue’s garden is paved and her new owner plans to buy her specially made booties when her fur grows back.

Sue said: “I'd like Bliss to be able to run around on the grass with the other dogs when we go for a walk.

"She is absolutely fantastic, she’s so funny.

"If I didn’t know better I’d think she’d been living here her whole life.”
