MEMBERS of Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) are urging residents to help them save a Catshill pub from demolition.
A proposal to bulldoze the Ivy Cottage to make way for 15 one-bedroom flats has been submitted to Bromsgrove District Council and will be put before the authority's planning committee in the coming months.
The pub, which has a bar, pool room and a lounge, is in the centre of Catshill and is close to the village shops.
Chairman of Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA said: "Members believe that, in the right hands, the pub can be made a successful business.
"But by taking away the pub, the community will loose its heart and local people will have to look elsewhere for a sociable night out.
"The Ivy Cottage may not be universally popular but it does present an opportunity to be improved as a pub."
