BROMSGROVE band Our Mutual Friend have released their debut EP Ambition.

The five-piece is fronted by lead singer, guitarist and synthesiser player Jack Goodall and also features Thom Hollick, who sings, plays violin, bass, synthesiser and trumpet, guitarist Ste Ashford, drummer and singer Sarah Workman and Joe Priest on keyboard and bass.

There are five songs on the new EP - Friday Downday, Middlesex (Radio Edit), Ambition, Forgotten and Time is to Blame - which have all been penned by Jack.

The band have been together for three years after meeting and forming while they were at North Bromsgrove High School.

The members said they have a number of influences, including David Bowie, Radiohead, The Who, Eric Clapton and The Kinks.

Prior to the release of the EP, they had two songs featured on a compilation CD ‘Hinterland’ and the song Saskatoon was played on BBC Radio 6.

Our Mutual Friend have recently performed gigs in London and have more booked in the capital for the summer. Back in 2010, they played at Bromsgrove’s Artrix and are in the process of lining some other shows up in the Midlands.

Thom said: “We have lots of things to say and we’re desperate to share it with as many people as possible.”
