IT COULD now be weeks before anymore is known about the circumstances surrounding the death of Frankley couple John Worton and Suzanne Van Hagen, West Midlands Police have told The Standard.
More tests, including toxicology examinations, will now be carried out after post-mortems performed on Saturday (February 9)on the pair, aged 37 and 34, proved inconclusive.
The two bodies were discovered at the flat in Miranda Close on Friday morning (February 8) by Ms Van Hagen's nine-year-old daughter.
Ms Van Hagen was found on a mattress in a bedroom and her partner, Mr Worton, was found downstairs in the lounge.
After being unable to wake the pair, the girl called for the ambulance service and paramedics contacted the police just before 10am.
The couple were pronounced dead at the scene and officers have been treating their deaths as unexplained.
Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones, from West Midlands Police CID, appealed for the public's help in trying to piece together exactly what happend.
"There is no obvious sign of major trauma and we await the outcome of the post mortem to determine the cause of death," he added.
The girl is staying with members of her family.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .
