Sporting are beaten by the weather

BROMSGROVE Sporting were frustrated by the weather once again on Saturday when the pitch at Pelsall was deemed unplayable which led to their Midland Combination Premier Division clash being postponed.

High-flying rivals Littleton did see some action though and came away from Atherstone with all three points to narrow Sporting’s lead at the top to just a point and they still have five games in hand.

Sporting will hope for more joy with the weather tomorrow when they are due to welcome Coventry Copsewood to the Victoria Ground (3pm).

SATURDAY was also a disappointing day for the Reserves as their incredible 100 per cent winning record was finally ended by Cadbury Athletic who held them to a 1-1 draw. Joe Lawley was on target for Sporting with a goal from the spot whilst Chris Thurbon picked up the man of the match award.

The Reserves will face another tough test tomorrow when they tackle Feckenham’s first team in the Worcestershire Junior Cup at Studley Sports and Social Club (2.15pm).
