RESIDENTS of all ages had a flipping good time at Bromsgrove’s historic St John’s Church on Shrove Tuesday (February 12) when a host of pancake events were held.
Hilda Roxborough proved she could toss a pancake the most times in 30 seconds and Susan Reston won the best pancake design competition with her creation, which featured the word ‘Smile’ and a smiley face. That was judged by Standard editor Tristan Harris.
There were pancakes aplenty for people to eat, with their own choice of toppings, a pancake ingredient treasure hunt in the church and even a themed wordsearch.
The event was held to raise funds for the church’s roof and heating system, as part of the Landmark II appeal.
Member of the Landmark II fund-raising committee, Shan Moule, said: “Everyone had a great time - it was a wonderful way to celebrate Shrove Tuesday and mark the start of Lent.”
