Bromsgrove event to showcase cakes for allergy sufferers

A BAKE-OFF showcasing diary and egg-free cakes takes place Burcot Village Hall between 2pm and 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

The event has been organised by Victoria Wilkes whose daughter Siena is allergic to egg and milk.

Siena suffered with bad eczema when she was born and the creams and treatments prescribed for her by the GP did nothing to clear it up.

When she was six-weeks-old, Victoria took her to the Bromsgrove Nutrition and Allergy Centre.

After several tests, nutritionalist Caroline Sproule suggested eliminating dairy products and eggs from Siena’s diet and, after six months, the eczema had cleared up.

One problem though was that Siena was unable to eat cakes, which presented a drawback, especially at children’s parties.

So, back in December, Victoria started her own business Siena’s Sweet Treats making dairy and egg-free cakes.

Victoria said: “The feedback we have had has been really good - a lot of people are grateful they can get dairy and egg-free cakes as they were not available before.”

For more, go along tomorrow, visit www.sienas-sweet-treats.co.uk or search for Siena’s Sweet Treats on Facebook.
