Post-mortems on Frankley pair prove inconclusive

THE POST-MORTEMS carried out on the bodies of 34-year-old Suzanne Van Hagen and John Worton, 37, who were found dead at a home in Frankley on Friday (February 8), have proved inconclusive, police have said.

Officers were hoping the examinations, which were carried out yesterday (Saturday), would shed some light onto the couple's causes of death.

The two bodies were discovered at the flat in Miranda Close by Ms Van Hagen's nine-year-old daughter.

Ms Van Hagen was found on a mattress in a bedroom and her partner, Mr Worton, was found downstairs in the lounge.

After being unable to wake the pair, the girl called for the ambulance service and paramedics contacted the police just before 10am this morning (Friday).

The couple were pronounced dead at the scene and officers have been treating their deaths as unexplained.

Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones, from West Midlands Police CID, appealed for the public's help in trying to piece together exactly what happend.

"There is no obvious sign of major trauma and we await the outcome of the post mortem to determine the cause of death," he added.

The girl is staying with members of her family.
