A NORTHFIELD man has been handed a community order after stealing around £40 worth of goods including stationery and Pepsi.
Christopher Poyner, 33, of Culmington Road, was seen on CCTV stuffing the items into his bag at B&M Bargains in the Kingfisher Centre, Redditch on January 15.
He had admitted he wished to sell the goods for around £10 to £15, despite the goods been worth a total of £41.37.
He appeared before Redditch Magistrates on Wednesday (February 6) where the court heard Mr Poyner was a 'career shoplifter' having been on conditional discharge for two similar offences in Telford and Sheffield.
His defence lawyer described the latest theft as a 'clumsy effort with no professional hallmark'.
Poyner, whose health problems were taken into account, was sentenced to a six-month community order with a supervision requirement for the same period where he will have to attend the probation office in Selly Oak on a regular basis.
The magistrates told Poyner: "You have served three weeks in prison, we see no point in sending you back.
"You've had a lot of chances, this is probably going to be your last one."
