A MAN has been charged with burglary after an incident in Hagley yesterday (Monday) when two men were seen carrying a lawn mower from a property in Station Road.

An off-duty West Mercia Police officer challenged the pair and, while one got into a red van and drove off, he was able to apprehend and arrest the other one, who was 25 and from Tipton. He has since been questioned, charged with burglary and released on bail to appear before Redditch Magistrates on February 19.

A woman who was driving by followed the van into Worcester Road but lost it as it headed towards Stourbridge.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information to call PC Keith Higgins at Hagley Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are also looking for information on the van, which was a Transit or Post Office style vehicle with a roller shutter at the back.
