DRIVERS will wake up to what has been described as some of the trickiest driving conditions of the winter tomorrow after a warning for heavy and snow showers.
The MET Office forecasts another bout of bad weather is set to hit the county from 8pm tonight (Monday) possibly turning to sleet and snow during the early hours.
Temperatures are due to plummet to at least minus 3 and will remain sub zero until 10am tomorrow (Tuesday), with a high chance of icy conditions.
The county's gritting fleet will be heading out tonight and motorists are being warned of difficult driving conditions.
Jon Fraser, the county's highways manager, said: "MET Office forecasts suggest tonight and tomorrow morning are set to present some of the trickiest driving conditions we've seen this winter.
"Our gritters will be heading out to treat the roads throughout Worcestershire, however, we will be monitoring conditions and working closely with the MET Office to make sure we send out our gritting teams at the best times to treat the roads, ensuring that heavy rain and sleet does not wash away our grit treatments.
"It is extremely important that motorists please remember to slow down and leave extra space between yourself and the vehicle in front to allow for extra stopping time in icy conditions. Gritting is very effective, but it is not a miracle solution, and I urge all drivers to temper their driving according to the conditions. This will be especially important throughout the night and during tomorrow morning's rush hour."
