A HOPWOOD cat rescue centre has appealed for Standard readers' help in dealing with a huge homeless cat problem.
Cramar Cat Rescue took in 15 adult cats after answering a call from a house containing 90 cats where the owners were unable to look after them.
A unit usually closed during the winter months was quickly cleaned to make way for the new arrivals and the 15 were each given a health check, notching up a bill of £1,000.
The centre, which is struggling with funds, now wants to know if any residents can help.
Ann Allbutt said: "This is always the most difficult time of the year financially with utility bills at their highest and food bills always expensive as our first priority is to ensure all the cats in our care are kept warm and also well fed.
"Such a large amount of cats arriving at one time has put extra pressure on our finances.”
The centre is open everyday between 11am and 2pm for anyone who can give a cat a loving home to go along and see those residing there.
