Men arrested as HMP Hewell inmate sustains head injuries

AN INVESTIGATION has opened after a man was found in his cell at HMP Hewell suffering with serious head injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a crew was sent to the prison on Monday (January 28) at around 1.45pm and took the man to hospital.

Police then went to HMP Hewell later that afternoon and four men were sequently arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said an investigation was underway with the full the co-operation of the prison authorities.

He added the men were helping with enquiries.

A spokeswoman from the Prison Service also confirmed the incident and said the matter was now in the hands of the police.
