JEWELLERS in Bromsgrove have been urged to be on the lookout for stolen goods after a haul of sentimental items were taken during a burglary in Barnt Green over the weekend.
More than £2,500 worth of belongings were stolen from the property on Hewell Road, between 6.30pm Saturday (January 12) and 1.20am yesterday (Sunday).
Thieves smashed a window to gain access to the property while the householder was out for the night.
Among the items taken were a £250 gold chain with amethyst pendant, a £250 gold necklace with a hexagonal pendant and a red stone in the centre and diamonds around the outside and another gold necklace with a mottled red stone worth a similar amount.
A £440 pearl necklace with an emerald stone at the front was also stolen.
As well as the jewellery, the haul also included a 32-inch flat-screen Toshiba television, Hauwei laptop, a black leather purse and cash.
Det Con Tony Flanagan said neighbours had been warned about the burglary and officers from Bromsgrove Police were studying CCTV footage.
"Any burglary is distressing for the victims, but in this instance there has been additional upset for the owner as the jewellery stolen was of particular sentimental value." he added.
It is thought the thieves will try and sell the items on so jewellers and businesses are being contacted so they are aware of the distinctive items.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call DC Flannagan on 101.
