AN EVENING of swinging jazz and humorous anecdotes will be held at the Spadesbourne Suite on January 25 to raise funds for the charities chosen by Civic Head, Coun Janice Boswell.
The evening, in aid of the Primrose Hospice, the Edward’s Trust and The Stroke Association, will feature The Simon Deeley Trio and special guest John Sparry - billed as a jazz vibraphonist, raconteur and wit.
Among the entertainment will be well-known numbers from composers, such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington and Hoagy Carmichael.
Each piece will be accompanied by a humorous anecdote about the song and the person who penned it.
Coun Boswell said she was looking forward to the event, which she hoped as many people as possible would come along to.
“As well as having fun, I know we will be raising money for some truly admirable charities at the same time so it really is a win-win situation.”
Tickets are just £10 per person and a bar and snacks will be available.
