Jewellery worth £500 stolen in Bromsgrove burglary

JEWELLERY, which was worth £500 and had a lot more sentimental value, was stolen during a burglary in Bromsgrove.

Thieves broke into the home on Birmingham Road at some point between December 23 and 28, while the elderly owner was away.

After ransacking the property, they took an 18-carat gold signet ring worth around £100, which had the initials GH engraved on it. Two 18ct gold engagement rings, worth £200, were also taken. One contained three diamonds and sapphires and the other had three diamonds set into it.

Det Con Tony Flannagan, of Bromsgrove CID, said: "These rings were of particular sentimental value to the owner and to have them stolen this way over the Christmas is all the more distressing."

He appealed for anyone living in Birmingham Road, who saw or heard anything suspicious, or saw vehicles parked there in unusual circumstances, to contact Bromsgrove CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

He also urged people to be on the lookout for the jewellery which may be offered for sale.

"If rings like this are presented to you and you are not sure they are from a legitimate source then please contact us as we would like to reunite them with their owner," he added.
