A TREE of Light service was held in Northfield for local residents to remember their loved ones.
The event, under a giant marquee on the car park of Morton’s Funeral Directors, was attended by more than 450 people.
Those who went along were able to write a message on one of the many memorial stars which were hung on the 18ft Christmas tree.
Derek Case, Morton’s managing director, said: “The messages written were lovely and one in particular made me smile - it read ‘miss you dad – hope you are behaving yourself’.”
The service was carried out by Rev Nick Jones, Fr Charles Lawrence, Fr Jan Nowotnik and Captains Steve and Jenny Forman and featured Christmas carols.
The Droitwich Corps of The Salvation Band accompanied the singing and gave a beautiful rendition of ‘O Little town of Bethlehem’ during a time for reflection.
Tea, coffee and cakes were served afterwards.
