FOOD ITEMS for more than 150 hampers for Bromsgrove's needy have been collected and bought by four town organisations which have joined forces to make Christmas better for those less fortunate.

The annual Christmas Hamper Appeal has been undertaken by NewStarts, NewSong Church, The Basement Project and Bromsgrove Lions Club and the generosity of local people has paid off once again.

The funding for the food was boosted by cash collections carried out by Bromsgrove Lions Club in November, while NewStarts and The Basement Project collected food outside supermarkets and NewSong Church also raised cash to add to the funds.

The organisers said demand had increased again this year, due to the tough economic circumstances,

A spokesperson said: "The four organisations would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported them with their work, and to those who have given their time to help with collections, shopping and packing."
