THIS VIBRANT picture has been taken at Cofton Nursery, Lickey Road, which has grown 4,000 poinsettias for the festive season.

The popular plants have livened up Birmingham City Council House, hotels and offices and have even been used at the nursery’s displays at the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show and Gardeners’ World event this year.

Although the most common choice is red, there are five different shades - lemon yellow, white, burgundy and a variegated one.

The plants will be available, along with cyclamen and hyacinths at bargain prices, at the nursery’s annual Christmas plant sales.

They take place on the two weekends before Christmas, on December 15 and 16 and December 21 and 22 - between 9am and 4pm on the Saturdays and from 10am to 4pm on the Sundays.
