Taxi driver assaulted yards from Longbridge Police Station

A TAXI driver suffered a serious injury after a scuffle yards away from Longbridge Police Station.

The incident happened at the junction of Hawkesley Road and Bristol Road South in the early hours of Saturday (November 17) morning.

Police received a 999 call just before 3.30am and arrived at the scene shortly after.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on bail today (Monday).

The driver of the taxi, 44, was taken to hospital in a critical state, but is now in a serious but stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have urged anyone with any information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
