A PROGRAMME of children's performances, group entertainment, dancing and live music took place at Bromsgrove District Council House to celebrate Diwali.

The event, organised by the Bromsgrove Indian Community Forum, was inaugurated by the Civic Head, Coun Janice Boswell, and this year's guest was MP Paul Uppal.

There were prayers and veneration ceremonies at the event, along with a traditional performance of the Lithuanian Artists,

representing the World Congress of ethnic religions and traditions.

And, after the Diwali Preetibhoj (Langar), gifts and sweets were distyributed to everybody, prizes were handed out to the winners of the quiz and games and the national anthems of Great Britain and India were played to conclude the event.

BK Chaurdri, from the forum, said: "Sincere thanks and gratituides were expressed to all, who endeavoured to make it a success, particularly to the Shaheed Sardar Nanakl Singh Foundation Trust for their generous contributions in cash and kind."
