A REDNAL couple have been left devastated after a several pieces of irreplaceable and sentimental jewellery were stolen during a burglary in broad daylight.
The incident happened at the property in Old Birmingham Road between 10am and 12.30pm on Tuesday (November 20) when the thieves forced a side gate and broke in through the patio doors.
A silver 150-year-old antique pocket watch, worth £250, was among the haul. The timepiece, which is 2ins in diameter and is wound by a key, dates back to 1861 and has a front flap and a chain fob that is 6ins to 8ins long,
Another item in the haul was the heavy foot-long watch chain, which is worth £300, hallmarked and wider in the middle, tapering towards the end. That, said the householder, was of great sentimental value as it belonged to his wife's great grandad.
Other pieces included the woman's grandmother's gold and diamond engagement ring, a gold and diamond eternity ring, a ruby and gold anniversary ring and a gold signet ring given to the man by his late father before his 21st birthday.
An 18ins television, bottle of Gucci Premiere perfume and a pair of half moon-shaped earrings were also stolen.
Det Con Paul Lettis, from Bromsgrove CID, said officers thought more than one person carried out the burglary and he appealed for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
"Some of the items taken were of sentimental value and quite distinctive so if anyone is offered items like this for sale then we'd encourage them to get in touch," he added.
