Girls impress in Redditch gala

BROMSGROVE Swimming Club had plenty of reasons to celebrate when competing in a girls only gala at Redditch's Abbey Stadium.

Over half of the individual swims saw the team produce personal best times whilst a number of winning swims were also produced.

First places went to Jenny Gearey in the ten-year-old's 50m freestyle, Hattie Goff in the 12-year-old's 50m freestyle and Sam Gearey in the 14-year-old's 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke.

Jenny Gearey also picked up a second placed finish in the 50m backstroke, as did Catrin Carter in the 11-year-old's 50m freestyle, Hattie Goff in the 100m individual medley, Ruby Picken in the 12-year-old's 50m butterfly and Sam Gearey in the 100m IM and 100m butterfly.

The 12-year-old's 4x25m medley and freestyle relay teams of Hattie Goff, Bethany Steel, Ruby Picken, Bethany O'Brien and Catrin Carter also finished up as runners-up.

Third place finishes went to Orla Walker in the ten-year-old's 50m butterfly, Jenny Gearey in the 50m breaststroke, Hattie Goff in the 12-year-old's 50m backstroke, Ruby Picken in the 13-year-old's 100m freestyle and Sam Gearey in the open age 100m freestyle.

The 14-year-old's 4x25m freestyle relay team of Sam Gearey, Jordan Prust, Hattie Goff and Ruby Picken and the freestyle cannon team of Sophie Manly, Jenny Gearey, Catrin Carter, Jess Stanley, Hattie Goff, Jordan Prust, Sam Gearey and Laura Cadwell also claimed top three finishes.
