IF YOU have been wanting to improve your angling skills or dust down those old rods you have been meaning to fetch out of the shed for the last 12 months, then this could be your perfect opportunity.
We have teamed up with Alvechurch Fisheries to offer one lucky winner a two-hour coaching session and day ticket at the picturesque Bittell Road location, whilst five runners-up will receive day tickets to use at a time of their choice.
The overall winner will be given the chance to get some expert advice on the Horseshoe Lake, the largest of the venue’s four pools, or the Specimen Carp Lake, also known as the Arrow Lake.
The four different pools ensure there is something on offer for everybody at Alvechurch Fisheries, regardless of age or experience.
At just under two acres, the Horseshoe Lake is the biggest, offering 36 pegs which meet BDAA standards for disabled anglers. The lake is well stocked with carp up to 14lb, tench, barbel, ide, roach, bream, rudd, perch and crucian carp.
The Arrow Lake has ten spacious bark pegs and has carefully selected fish stocks with approximatly 150 carp up to 25lb as well as large tench and perch. Only anglers with proven experience and the required equipment will be permitted to fish the lake and bookings must be made via manager Mark Olds at least 24 hours prior to fishing.
One of the most popular lakes is the House Pool which has 21 decking pegs, also to BDAA regulations, which offer comfortable fishing in a quiet country surrounding. Fish stocks vary with the lake mainly holding carp between 0.5 - 7lb. It also contains roach, tench, perch and bream.
Harry’s Pool has nine decked pegs and is primarily used for juniors and novices.
Although, a number of experienced anglers can often be found on there due to the wide variety of fish that stock the lake.
To be in with a chance of winning simply answer the following question.
What is the name of the Specimen Carp Lake at Alvechurch Fisheries?
Then email your answer, together with your name, address and contact number to firstname.lastname@example.org, marking Angling Competition in the subject box, no later than the closing date of 12noon on Thursday, October 25.
Only one entry per household will be accepted. The main winner will be the first person drawn out of the hat with the correct answer, with the five runners-up to follow.
