Residents invited to Eid festival

RESIDENTS from Bromsgrove and surrounding areas are being invited to go along to the annual Eid Festival, which is being held at the Spadesbourne Suite, Burcot Lane, next Saturday (November 17).

The event, from 12midday to 5pm, has been organised by the Bromsgrove Muslim Community Trust (BMCT) in partnership with Bromsgrove District Council and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

The festival, which attracted more than 800 people last year, will boast a variety of stalls, including Henna painting, face-painting, Origami and one selling cakes.

There will also be refreshments, a performance by children, an entertainer for the youngsters, Nasheed music by Khaleel Muhammed and lunch - that will enable those who go along to try a variety of Indian food and will be just £2 for adults and £1 for children, with all cash collected going to charity.

At 12.30pm. there will be a welcome by BMCT chairman Dr Waqar Azmi OBE and a formal opening by Bromsgrove District Council civic head, Coun Janice Boswell.

Dr Azmi said: "We are looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible to join us for our Eid Festival, where there will be so much to do for all ages."

Coun Michael Webb, whose portfolio covers leisure and culture, said: “The Eid Festival is an excellent day out for all the family and is a good way to bring people together to meet and learn about different cultures.
