Getting into the swing of Golf Day

A NATIONAL Golf Challenge Day organised by the Special Olympics West Midlands Group proved a huge hit at the Bromsgrove Golf Centre.

The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire helped host the event and also donated £250 to the group which will be used, amongst other things, to purchase two trophies to be presented annually on each Challenge Day.

Special Olympics GB is a registered charity offering sporting opportunities to children and adults with intellectual learning disabilities.

A total of 18 golfers from all parts of the country participated, with a number of North Worcestershire Rotarians acting as caddies for each of the entrants.

David Gilburn, President of the Rotary Club of North Worcestershire, said: “The North Worcestershire Rotary Club has been involved with the Golf Group for the last three years and are delighted to help both financially and on the day.

“Events like these help provide opportunities for all people with learning disabilities so that they can develop skills and confidence and overcome some of the barriers that they face in everyday life.

“The standard of golf on the day was outstanding and gave a number of us useful tips on how to improve our own game.”
