THE GRAND opening of a brand new sensory garden at Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm took place on Saturday (September 29).
It was funded by a bequest from the late Kate Charity, who was a life-long supporter of the farm and whose mother Lucy was a co-founder in 1951.
Kate’s daughter and Lucy’s grand-daugher Ruth Charity officially opened the garden and said it was a perfect tribute to her family’s 60 years of dedicated support to the Dodford Farm.
Additional funding was provided by other charitable trusts including the Four Winds Trust.
Dodford Children’s Farm, set within nine acres of land, provides a rural retreat for socially and physically disadvantaged children from urban areas.
The new garden is aimed at stimulating the senses of its visitors, particularly those with special needs.
It boasts running water, plants and herbs, multi surfaces and seating areas.
