ELECTRICAL items and jewellery worth almost £500 were stolen during a burglary in broad daylight in Rubery yesterday (Tuesday).

The incident happened between 11.15am and 3.45pm at a home in Rednal Hill Lane after thieves gained access using tools that were left out by the homeowner.

Among the haul was an Apple iPod docking station worth £50, a Dell laptop worth £250, a £40 iPhone 4 charger, an assortment of costume jewellery and a £150 Tiffany & Co bracelet.

Det Con Ed Slough from Bromsgrove CID said: "Residents are reminded not to leave out tools or equipment that could be used to break into your home. Make sure they are locked away out of sight whenever you go out.

"We would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing suspicious activity in the area on Tuesday afternoon, particularly any cars parked in unusual circumstances.

"If anyone is offered jewellery or electrical items for sale like the ones stolen and is in any doubt about their source we would urge them to call us as soon as possible."

Witnesses or anyone with any information about the burglary should call Det Con Slough on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
