Motorcyclist dies after Northfield crash

A MAN died after motorbike crash in Northfield in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

The incident, involving the 22-year-old from Druids Heath. happened on the junction of Frankley Lane and Merritts Hill at around 12.15am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene, where it was reported that the motorcyclist had come off his bike after hitting a lamp post.

"Bystanders were providing first aid to the man.

“But, sadly it quickly became apparent to crews that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene,” she added.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said officers were supporting the victim's family and added: "Although there does not appear to be any other vehicles involved, we are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen what happened, so that we establish the circumstances of the collision."
