Man left with broken jaw after attack

A MAN has been left with a broken jaw after being attacked on the Worcester Road.

The victim who was walking with his friend out of town about 1.30am on Saturday (August 25), saw a man lying on the floor opposite Charlie's Kebab House.

When he went to help the man, two other men approached him and tried to provoke him into fighting, head butting him and punching him in the jaw.

The first attacker was white, average build, wearing a red top and had a goatee style beard with a moustache. The second offender, who was also white, wore a grey top and had dark hair.

Det Con Hilary Martin said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack in which a man was assaulted after trying to help someone.

"There was a third man with the two offenders, but he is not believed to have taken part in the assault. I would appeal for him and also the man who was lying on the floor - the one who the victim went over to help - to come forward, so that we can at least eliminate them from our inquiries.

"It was a busy time of night with people out and about on the bank holiday weekend, leaving the local bars, and I would appeal for anyone else who may have witnessed this incident to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Martin on 0300 333 3000, quoting 49S 250812, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
