GLOBAL fast food chain KFC have applied to demolish the Sugarbrook Pub to build a drive-through restaurant on the site.

The Standard confirmed in July the fried chicken chain were interested in coming to the town with the Charford based pub a target location.

However an application to demolish the building and build a drive-through restaurant has now been submitted to Bromsgrove District Council by agents Savills.

A KFC spokeperson confirmed the restaurant chain was behind the application and said the plan would create 40 jobs in the town.

"It's early days, so we can't say too much at the moment, we're currently liaising with local authorities and residents on the plans."
