THE CHIEF Executive of NHS Worcestershire, Eamonn Kelly will be at Bromsgrove’s Save the Alex public meeting which takes place next Friday (September 7), The Standard can confirm.
The event on the proposed changes to the county’s health services is being held between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at Bromsgrove Methodist Centre, Stratford Road.
As well as Mr Kelly, there will be a panel of other speakers who will take to the floor.
Already confirmed are Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, the leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Coun Roger Hollingworth and the leader of the Labour group, Coun Peter McDonald.
And there will be other health representatives.
Save the Alex campaign leader Neal Stote said: “We have had a positive response to the meeting so far, but we want as many Bromsgrove people as possible to come along.
“It’s their opportunity to question the trust, their MP and their councillors about these changes and to find out what’s going on.”
Information will be given about the campaign and the support it has received and about the potential loss of A&E, maternity, gynaecology and paediatrics from the Alexandra Hospital and what it could mean.
There will also be a question and answer session for the audience to participate in.
There are 400 places next Friday and those wanting to go can just turn up on the evening.
Anyone wanting to know more about the meeting can e-mail email@example.com.
As The Standard went to press yesterday (Thursday), the Save the Alex petition had reached 51,412 signatures from people calling for A&E and maternity services to be kept at the Alex.
Those who have not yet returned petitions need to do so by a week on Monday (September 10).
Sheets can be sent back to Harriet Ernstsons, The Standard, 44 High Street, Bromsgrove, B61 8HQ or The Standard, Webb House, Church Green East, Redditch, B98 8BP.
