Hi: 15° Lo:5° 7 day

SPORTS clubs are reminded that the chance to enter nominations for the fifth annual Bromsgrove Sports Awards closes on Tuesday.
The awards recognise sporting achievements within the district and acknowledge local people who have dedicated their time and effort to a sport they love. They also bring together the local sporting community to celebrate sport across Bromsgrove.
This year’s awards categories are: Junior male sports person; Junior female sports person; Senior male sports person; Senior female sports person; Coach of the year; Volunteer of the year; Club of the year; Junior team of the year; Young volunteer of the year; Disabled sports person; Outstanding contribution; Be active award.
Once the nomination deadline has passed, a shortlist of nominees for each category will be determined by a panel and will then be invited to attend an awards ceremony, with winners being revealed on the day.
Following feedback from last year and due to its increasing popularity, the awards ceremony will take place at this year’s annual High 5 event, which also includes a special Community Games ‘It’s A Knockout’ style competition.
Nominees will be able to invite friends and family along to support them and there will be a family picnic. There will also be the opportunity to hear about the fantastic local sporting achievements throughout 2012 and the chance to speak to local sports clubs to find out how to get involved.
Weather permitting; the High 5 event will take place at Sanders Park on September 9 from 11am to 4pm. The awards ceremony will take place on stage from 12pm to 1.30pm and will be simultaneously broadcast on a big screen in the park.
To enter a nomination go to www.bromsgrove.gov.uk and fill out an online nomination form. Completed forms must be submitted by 9am on Tuesday.
