Hi: 13° Lo:3° 7 day

THE STATE of the public toilets in Bromsgrove's Sanders Park has been slammed by residents who took to our Facebook page to voice their disapproval.
The popular park, which was recently awarded a Green Flag, has boasted a host of entertainment over the school summer holidays, including live music, puppets, clowns and magic, circus skills, games, dance and art and drumming workshops.
But several parents who have taken their children to the park have said they were disgusted with the levels of cleanliness of the toilets there and there were almost 50 comments generated on our Facebook page in a matter of hours.
Debbie Munn wrote: "I don't use them or let my daughter use them."
Darren Smith posted: "They are disgusting, especially when the park is so nice!"
Trudy Parker stated: "They are dirty and smelly and you often have to paddle your way through."
And Jane Helen Alice Hobbis said: "They are not fit for pigs - they are dark, dirty and they really smell bad."
Sarah Richardson added that she never used them and would prefer to walk to the nearest pub, while Emma Pinfield said she went in and walked straight back out.
Other criticisms included the metal seats and a couple of people said they would rather 'go in a bush'.
And John Adkins wrote: "I'd rather go for a swim in the pond then use the Sanders Park toilets."
Bromsgrove District Council’s head of environmental services Guy Revans said the reaction signalled that the expected standards of cleanliness were not being maintained at all times and vowed to review the cleaning schedule.
"It may be that cleaning and restocking these toilets more than once a day seven days a week as we do now is not enough to serve the high numbers of visitors to Sanders Park during the summer holidays and this is something we could take a look at.
“The extremely durable stainless steel facilities there are vandal proof, which has been shown to be an essential feature, but they should obviously not be falling below standards of cleanliness.”
