A REDNAL man has been jailed for two and a half years for burglary and attempted burglary.

Karl Bloomfield, 34 of Cranbourne Close, targeted two Catshill pubs in one night on April 27.

He was arrested the same day as the offences and had previously pleaded guilty to the two charges before being sentenced at Worcester Crown Court last Friday (August 3).

He broke into the Ivy Cottage on Gibb Lane during the early hours of the morning and threatened the owner with a screwdriver before getting away.

Bloomfield then made his way to The Crown Inn on Stourbridge Road but he was disturbed by the owner before he could get in.

Det Sgt Ash Kumar, from Bromsgrove CID, said: “We are pleased with the custodial sentence handed to Bloomfield. I hope it sends a clear message. We remain ever vigilant and committed to bringing offenders to justice.

“Burglary remains a top priority for West Mercia Police. We take it very seriously and will always seek to put offenders before the courts.”
