A TRIO of green-fingered couples will be throwing open their doors this weekend and welcoming people to view their gardens.

John and Janet Morgan and Alan and Lynn Nokes, of Braces Lane, and John’s brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Di Morgan of Birmingham Road are taking part in the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday (August 12) from 1.30pm until 5.30pm.

Residents may already be familiar with their work as the group were instrumental in helping to design the new Catshill and North Marlbrook Parish garden on the corner of Braces Lane and the A38.

John and Janet’s garden, ‘Saranacris’ is built into the steep slopes of an old quarry and they have used it to create terraces with a winding, climbing path and a large koi pond at the top as well as a water fall and stream.

Near neighbours Alan and Lynn Nokes’s Round Hill Garden has a Mediterranean patio, large fish pond, extensive lawns with herbaceous planting and a large and well-structured vegetable garden.

Dave and Di’s Oak Tree House garden is a more traditional cottage style stacked full of plants with water features, ponds, artefacts and plenty of seating.

Car parking and refreshments will be available in Braces Lane. Look for the yellow NGS signs. Admission to all three gardens is £5 adults and children are free.
