Hi: 16° Lo:3° 7 day

A SHOPWORKER was threatened with a handgun during an armed robbery in Blackwell.
The woman was forced to handover an undisclosed amount of money to the robber who targeted Blackwell Village Stores in Greenhill about 2pm on Monday (August 6). No-one else was in the shop at the time. After the robbery the man made off on foot into St Catherine's Road.
He is described as white and pale skinned, believed to be in his 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark, possibly grey hooded top, with a hood up over a white cap.
Underneath his top he wore a black t-shirt and also had on modern-styled, dark denim jeans and he spoke with a Birmingham accent.
Officers are appealing for sightings of the man, particularly anyone who spotted him in St Catherine's churchyard before the robbery.
Det Sgt Ed Slough, of Bromsgrove CID, said: "Thankfully no-one was hurt during this incident, no shots were fired and at this time we do not know whether this was a real firearm or an imitation.
"It is important we trace this man so if you have any idea who he is or saw anyone or anything at all out of the ordinary in that area during the day then please let us know without delay."
Police are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and several parts of the area were cordoned off on Monday and Tuesday while officers, including dog handlers, carried out searches.
Door-to-door enquiries are also being carried out and uniformed patrols have been stepped up in Bromsgrove around post offices and convenience stores.
Det Sgt Slough added officers were talking to shopkeepers and post office managers, encouraging people to be vigilant and to instantly report any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information should call detectives at Bromsgrove Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 313-S-060812, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
