TWO men have been arrested in connection with a man who suffered a suspected fall from a walkway in Northfield last night (Monday).

Passers by tended to him until the ambulance arrived and took him to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Later last night Police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and another, 21, on suspicion or wounding.

Forensic Investigators have conducted tests at the scene and seized CCTV footage. Now officers from West Midlands Police want any witnesses or anyone with any information on the incident to help them piece together what happened.

"We remain open minded as to what happened last night on the stairs.

"I am particularly keen to hear from the people who tended to the injured man" said Det Insp Ian Inram.

Patrols have been stepped up around Northfield and police moved to reassure residents that violent crime on the whole thoughout the West Midlands had been reduced.

Anyone with any information should call CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
