CIGARETTES worth £5,000 were stolen last night (Thursday) during a robbery at the Tesco Express in Marlbrook.

Two masked raiders burst into the Old Birmingham Road store at around 10pm and shouted at staff to get out of the way.

They then jumped over the counter, filled large bags with the cigarettes and then fled to a medium-sized white hatchback car which was waiting. That drove off down Braces Lane.

The two raiders were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

Det Con Nadia Prescott of Bromsgrove CID said, although no weapons were seen during the robbery and no one was hurt, it was still a traumatic experience for those in the store at the time.

"Apart from two staff members, there was also a white woman who was a customer in the store, but she left before our arrival and we have no details for her.

"It is vital that we speak to her as part of our investigation and I would urge her to contact us as soon as possible. "

She added she also wanted to speak to anyone else who was near the shop at the time and saw anything.

"Small details can be important so even if you don't think you saw something significant please pick up the phone," she said.

Anyone with any information should call DC Prescott on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
