THE independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England has announced it is minded to accept a proposal to reduce the members on Bromsgrove District Council from 39 to 31.
And now the Commission wants to hear from residents and groups to help it redraw the single-member ward boundaries to accommodate the 31.
The review also aims to ensure the new council wards reflect, as far as possible, the interests and identities of communities across the district.
Max Caller, chair of the Commission, said on the evidence received, the organisation felt having 31 members was the best way forward.
“As we develop the recommendations, we’ll take into account local community identities as well as ensuring electoral equality for voters.
“Your views will make a difference.”
Bromsgrove District Council asked the Commission to conduct the review and the submissions will be published on the organisation’s website.
Residents will then have another chance to have their say on the draft recommendations, which will be revealed in November.
