FAST FOOD giant KFC has announced it is planning to open a restaurant in Bromsgrove.
A spokesperson confirmed to The Standard the brand had agreed terms and 40 jobs would be created in the town.
At this stage, the company said it could not reveal where the restaurant would be going, but speculation is rife that the former Sugarbrook pub building on Charford Road is the chosen site for the eatery.
In a statement, KFC said: "It’s still early days and we can’t say a great deal, but we are currently liaising with the land owners and local residents to ensure their views are taken into consideration when plans are submitted."
Residents from the Charford area confirmed they had recieved letters about the development, but a Bromsgrove District Council spokesperson said it was yet to recieve a formal application.
And the news appeared to go down well on our social networking sites.
A Facebook status update on the proposed arrival on Wednesday was 'liked' almost 100 times in a matter of hours.
Other comments included one which said it was 'about time' another that labelled it 'great news for Bromsgrove' and one welcoming the boost to the local economy.
Natasha Byng wrote: "The fact that a worldwide name is investing into our town is a good thing, maybe other big names will follow.
"Opening Poundland was a good thing and now another well-known retail chain.
"Look at all jobs to be created.
"We need more family friendly places in the town."
Dan Johnson believed a KFC would help bring more people into the town which would be another added boost.
And the news certainly seemed to appeal to people's appetite.
