Hi: 20° Lo:8° 7 day

HEARTLESS vandals have trashed brand new children's play equipment at Waseley Hills Country Park.
The new items, which were worth £6,000 and only installed by volunteers and country park staff in the adventure play area last month, included a large climbing frame with chain walks and tyre crossing and a four-seat see-saw.
New brightly coloured 'springies' carved out of long-lasting robinia wood were also installed in the toddlers' play area and it was one of those - a springy cow - which was stolen.
Staff and volunteers worked very hard to install the new play equipment for people to enjoy and were disappointed to find the area vandalised when they arrived for work on June 25.
One of those was Waseley Hills' countryside sites officer George Hammonds, who hit out at those who had caused the destruction.
He said: "It is unfortunate that a very small minority of people think it is a good idea to vandalise or steal the equipment and reduce the enjoyment of the play area for everybody else.
"I hope that whoever stole the springy cow has the decency to return it to the country park so it can be reinstated and enjoyed again."
Anyone with any information on the incident should call the Waseley Hills Country Park office on 01562 710025.
