A WOMAN was attacked and threatened with a knife by a man who wanted to steal her dog.

The woman in her 20s, was walking her dog at The Spinney in Wythall at about 11pm last Thursday (June28) when a man approached her and threatened her with the blade.

He ordered her to hand over the dog and any valuables and, when she refused, he punched her.

There was a struggle and the man left the scene in a blue, older car driven by a blonde woman.

The man was white, aged around 24, and of skinny, but athletic, build. He was between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 4ins tall with a pale, dirty complexion, dark stubble and light mousey brown hair.

The woman, who was driving the car, was white, in her 30s, with a pony tail and an ear piercing.

Nothing was taken during the incident.

Det Sgt Kevin Hadley of Bromsgrove CID said: "Attempting to steal someone's dog in this way is most unusual, but it was obviously very distressing for the victim."

She urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who knew the attacker or the woman who drove him off to call Bromsgrove CID on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
