ANOTHER Bromsgrovian, Jonjo Rooney told The Standard running with the torch was the 'one of the proudest things he has ever done'.

JonJo Rooney ran the leg of Redditch down Unicorn Hill to the junction of Bromsgrove Road and Plymouth Road.

He was nominated to carry the torch for his courageous battle against Leukaemia and raising money for charity.

The 28-year-old said all the torchbearers were unbelievable, each with their own story, having every right to carry the torch.

He said: "The day was absolutely fantastic.

"Being one of the torchbearers was honestly one of the proudest things I have ever done.

"I was so excited, I just couldn't believe how many people were there.

"My heart started pounding when I turned the corner on Unicorn Hill, but the crowd were just fantastic and I went for it.

"It was absolutely incredible."

He added he felt like David Beckham because so many people wanted pictures with him.

"Everyone kept thanking me for pictures, but I should be the one thanking them and all the people who came and supported me - they made the day."
