HEARTLESS thieves have stolen £800 in sponsorship money and five boxes of tip money for hairdressing staff during a burglary at a salon in Bromsgrove.

The cash, which had been collected by the manager in connection with a sponsored walk for a children's cancer charity, was taken from Honesty's Salon, Stoke Road, Aston Fields, between 11pm and 12midnight on Monday (June 25) after thieves gained access to the building.

The money was being collected for Children with Cancer, a charity which is aimed at determining the causes, finding out cures and providing care for youngsters suffering the disease.

PC David Hanson from Bromsgrove Police, who is investigating the theft, said it was a heartless crime and officers were determined to bring the thieves to justice.

"It would have been quite clear from the container the cash was in and the sponsorship forms within, that the money was intended for charity.

"Whoever has stolen this money has denied the charity and the children it cares for from benefiting from the manager's fantastic fund-raising efforts."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information on the burglary should call Bromsgrove Police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
