22 laptops stolen in burglary at Hagley school

LAPTOPS totalling £5,000 were stolen during a burglary at a Hagley school in the early hours of last Thursday morning (June 28).

The 22 white Acer netbooks were taken in the theft, which happened between 3.20am and 3.55am at Haybridge High School.

They were in a temporary building, at the back of the school site, next to the playing fields, which was being used as a classroom.

Thieves gained access to a secure metal container in the building to take the computers and it is then believed they tried to target other areas of the school, but were unsuccessful.

It is thought the thieves first got into the school grounds via the waterworks area, near The Sidings.

PC Christopher Evans, from Hagley Police, said as well as the cost, the actions of the thieves would also impact on the students' education.

"The laptops are quite distinctive, so I would urge anyone who is offered one or knows of someone who is selling a large quantity of them to call us too."

He appealed for anyone who witnessed the burglary or who had any information on it to call him on 0300 333 3000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
