Rallying call to raise flag for armed forces

BROMSGROVE District Council’s civic head is urging residents to pay tribute to the armed forces by attending a flag-raising ceremony being held in the town on Monday (June 25).

The event will take place at 10.30am at the front of the Council House, Burcot Lane, with refreshments being held in the Members Room afterwards.

The armed forces flag will then be flown for the duration of the week before Armed Forces Day, which is next Saturday (June 30).

Civic head, Coun Janice Boswell, said: “By flying the flag in our district, we show our support for the men and women of our armed forces, past and present, who continue to rise to the very difficult challenge of maintaining the defence of the realm.

“We’re proud to also support all of their families and loved ones across our community and would like to invite everyone down to join us for the ceremony.”

Anyone intending to show their support on the day is advised to arrive ahead of 10.30am, as the ceremony is expected to be promptly on time.
