BROMSGROVE’S Hayley Newnes edged closer to the final of The Exclusives last night as Sunny became the second contestant to leave the ITV2 reality show.

And things got even better for former NEW College girl as she scooped her second ‘Rookie of the Week’ along with Ellie for Heat magazine in this week.

Things had not started so well in the beginning of last night’s episode - the fifth in the series - as the show producers turned Hayley’s celebrity knowledge against her. They gave the other contestants celebrities to interview, however they said Hayley had to go out and find her own.

Hayley told The Standard: “I felt the pressure at the start.

“I had to succeed or I would have been going instead of Sunny.”

Thinking quickly she found Amy Childs, formerly of The Only Way is Essex, in the Heat offices. Then not resting on her laurels she dashed off to the TRIC awards, despite not been allowed press access and bluffed her way in, claiming she was from ITV. And fortune certainly favoured the brave as, whilst inside, Hayley scooped interviews with Peter Andre and Gareth Gates.

Other celebrity appearances included Stuart interviewing Jedward, Felix taking on Kerry Katona, whilst Ellie and Sunny were paired together to interview Blue.

Following her interview with Peter Andre, Hayley then joined Stuart and Felix to produce a photo-shoot and feature on ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer. She added that coming out on top this week stood her in good stead for next week’s episode for Empire magazine which will determine who makes the final.

Show six of The Exclusives airs on Thursday at 9pm on ITV2. People can also catch up with previous episodes on the ITV Player.
