SIX people were injured in a crash which happened at 8.45pm last night (Monday) in Longbridge.

The incident, which involved two cars, took place in Longbridge Lane.

In the one car, the passenger had managed to get out, but the driver was trapped.

Ambulance staff worked with firefighters to remove the roof of the car and get him out. He was anaesthetised at the scene by the doctor, before being immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board. He was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Major Trauma Centre. The passenger was treated for a cut to his head and also taken to the QE. Both men were in their 20s.

In the second car, there were four people - two women and two girls, who were aged around seven and eight.

One of the women was taken to the Women's Hospital, with the other three being treated at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said, on arrival, crews found the two cars had suffered extensive damage, especially to the passenger side of the first car.
