Hi: 16° Lo:3° 7 day

POLICE will be putting in 'extra time' across Bromsgrove as Euro 2012 kicks-off today (Friday).
Officers will be out in force throughout the 23 day tournament and are warning alcohol related violence and disorder will not be tolerated.
England’s first match against France takes place at 5pm on Monday (11 June).
Ch Insp Melanie Crowther said they would be working with landlords, off-licenses and supermarkets to ensure alcohol was sold responsibly.
“While the summer of 2012 is packed with major events, we are making sure there will be a high-profile policing presence in our town and city centres throughout Euro 2012, particularly on the days England are playing.
“We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but we’ll be cracking down on any alcohol-related violence or disorder and making sure town centres are safe for all local residents, whether they are interested in the football or not."
Police are also encouraging people to show domestic abuse the red card by reporting any incidents as typically violence of this type increases around major football tournaments.
For confidential help or advice, call the domestic abuse helpline on 0800 783 1359 or police on 101.
